Exciting opportunity to work with a national organisationFull time, permanent role If you enjoy the idea of becoming an expert across a range of legal areas, a trusted advisor to individuals and businesses of all sizes and the ‘go to’ person in the office, then this role is for you.HIA currently has an opportunity for a highly motivated legal expert to join our Perth team, as Assistant Director – Workplace Services to provide advice to members in the WA region.What will you be doing?If you have always wanted to use your legal skills to have a direct and positive impact then this is the job for you.In your role you will directly advise HIA members, over the phone, across a range of legal and compliance disciplines including employment law, human resources, contract management and administration, construction law, dispute resolution, safety and builder’s licensing. The role also requires that you coordinate, attend and provide briefings to committees of HIA members.You will also engage with members face to face through a variety of activities including the delivery of training and membership presentations to small and large groups on key business compliance issues.Supporting and representing the interests of our members is a core value of HIA. In this role you will assist HIA advocate state and local government agencies and regulators and formulate policy submissions on a range of legal and compliance matters.Who are you?Are you looking for a hands on role outside of a traditional law firm? Are you interested in influencing the decisions of government that affect the home building industry?The right person for this job should be passionate about helping people, enjoy practical problem solving and using your initiative. You will also enjoy the challenge of providing one on one advice combined with the need to think strategically about issues that may affect the whole housing industry. Being a good communicator is vital. You will need to have tertiary qualification in legal, industrial relations, construction or related discipline. A good working knowledge of workplace relations law and/ or construction law is desirable.Who are we?The Housing Industry Association is Australia’s peak residential building industry body.
