Director – Industrial Relations and Legal Services

If you enjoy the idea of becoming an expert across a range of legal areas, a trusted advisor to both internal and external stakeholders of all sizes and advocating on behalf of members in the home building industry then this role is for you.HIA currently has an opportunity for a highly motivated legal expert to join our team, as Director – Industrial Relations and Legal Services to provide innovative and industry focused policy support and member services across the country. Canberra, Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne are available as a possible location for this position.What will you be doing?If you have always wanted to use your legal skills to have a direct and positive impact then this is the job for you.In your role you will support the Executive Director – Industrial Relations and Legal Services in developing policy and advocating for the home building industry across business compliance, industry relations and employment, licensing, dispute resolution, contracting and work, health and safety matters.The role also requires that you provide support to regional managers and workplace services staff, monitor and provide advice nationally on emerging industrial relations and legal compliance issues and prepare submissions, research paper, briefing materials and communication.You may also engage with members face to face through a variety of activities including committees, the delivery of training and membership presentations to small and large groups on key business compliance issues.Supporting and representing the interests of our members is a core value of HIA and in this role you will assist HIA prosecute its policy to Federal government agencies and regulators.Who are you?Are you looking for a hands on role outside of a traditional law firm? Being a good communicator is vital. You will need to have tertiary qualification in legal, industrial relations, construction or related discipline.
