HIA covers a variety of commercial businesses, member servicing functions and policy and lobbying initiatives.  Within our Commercial stream we undertake a wide range of functions including group apprenticeship schemes, training, publishing and events. Our strong brand enjoys Australia wide recognition. We are currently seeking an energetic, high calibre and experienced Financial Controller to assist the Chief Financial Executive (CFE) with the delivery of all the Finance teams’ outputs and HIA financial accounts with a strong focus on coaching the team to continuously improving HIA’s financial standards (i.e. policies, systems, processes and procedures).Key responsibilities include: Assists with preparation of high-quality financial accounts and reports for use by Senior Executive, the Board of Directors and HIA’s Auditors.Maintains the internal financial control environment around HIA’s financial systems to ensure quality and reliable outputs.Assists with financial modelling for new or improved business initiatives or opportunities.Applies information using HIA’s databases and financial results to develop and maintain financial management information to assist HIA’s Business Unit Managers in managing their businesses, in the form of financial reporting, financial analytics and advisory support.Seeks to continuously improve HIA’s financial practices, including systems and processes.Acts as the change manager for the financial systems and process changes.Manages financial management information systems (Microsoft Great Plains, Workplace and CRM) including partnering with IT for the upgrade of these systems.Develops and maintains financial policies, processes and procedures documents.Assists with the preparation of the annual budget and reforecasts.Oversees the operational outcomes of the Finance teamProvides coaching and support for staff learning, development and career pathways. The successful candidate will possess: Formal accounting qualifications (degree) with membership of CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.10+ years’ experience in an accounting environment.Must be experienced and comfortable in working towards deadlines and managing a variety of tasks at any one time.Strong problem solving skills and demonstrated resourcefulness will be highly regarded.Must have strong IT skills with extensive experience in using accounting applications. Proficiency with and Microsoft products such as Great Plains, CRM and Power BI will be an added advantage.Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.A commitment to providing a high level of customer service to both internal and external customers of the Finance team.Experience in supervising staff, coordinating teamwork activities, staff mentoring, professional development and managing change.Experience in managing key relationships with non-finance professionals.Position Description AUD Canberra 2601
