HIA currently has an opportunity for a highly motivated legal expert to lead our Queensland team, as Manager – Workplace Services to provide advice to members across the Queensland region.
What will you be doing?

In your role you will directly advise HIA members, over the phone, across a range of legal and compliance disciplines including employment law, human resources, contract management and administration, construction law, dispute resolution, safety and builder’s licensing. The role also requires that you lead and mentor another workplace advisors, coordinate, attend and provide briefings to committees of HIA members, and provide policy, research and lobbying support to the Queensland region.
You will also engage with members face to face through a variety of activities including the delivery of training and membership presentations to small and large groups on key business compliance issues.
Supporting and representing the interests of our members is a core value of HIA. In this role you will assist HIA advocate state and local government agencies and regulators and formulate policy submissions on a range of legal and compliance matters.

The right person for this job should be passionate about helping people, enjoy practical problem solving and using your initiative. You will also enjoy the challenge of providing one on one advice combined with the need to think strategically about issues that may affect the whole housing industry. Being a good communicator is vital. You will need to have tertiary qualification in legal, industrial relations, construction or related discipline. A good working knowledge of workplace relations law and/ or construction law is desirable.
