Our vision remains the same, to be an association that speaks with a united voice on industry issues and creating real change providing quality services at the lowest possible cost, and working with the sector to maintain high standards.The Role The Assistant Director aims to Provide advice and assistance to members, Adelaide's regional management and other stakeholders in areas relating to National Construction Code, building regulations, planning, land development and environmental issues.Deputise for the Regional Executive Director on policy and government relations, where required.The Assistant Director will Deliver, promote and prosecute HIA policies through a broad range of member services and advocacy in relation to residential development, planning and the environment within SA and NT.Key responsibilities for this role include:Identify and prosecute policy settings that will encourage and support the HIA and residential development in SA and NTUndertake research, policy and advocacy programs relating to planning, development, infrastructure and sustainability issues affecting HIA membersRepresents HIA on government and industry forums Represents HIA on various Australian Standards CommitteesProvides technical (building) advice to HIA members on issues related primarily to residential building and development, construction practices and material technologyIs capable to deputise for the Regional Executive Director in matters of residential developmentPerform other duties required by the SA Executive DirectorThe ideal applicant will have the qualities of:Tertiary qualification in Urban Planning, Environmental Planning or Management, or Building related disciplineSound understanding of the housing industry with specific demonstrated experience in the multi-residential market and land developmentsExcellent organisational ability and ability to manage competing prioritiesExcellent networking and communication skills and capacity to handle key relationshipsWell-developed research and report writing skillsHighly computer literate and capable with on-line research tools and the Microsoft Office suiteExcellent communication skills (both written and oral) Ability to build rapport with HIA members and industry stakeholders in prosecuting HIA policiesIf you are interested in this position, please submit your application by clicking on the link to apply before 20 February 2025.
