HIA currently has an opportunity within our Contracts and Compliance team, for a highly motivated policy professional to take on the role of Assistant Director - Policy and Compliance in our Macquarie Park office. This role will focus on leading and supporting policy, lobbying and advocacy work related to residential building industry in New South Wales.

What will you be doing?
In your role you will:
- provide policy support and strategic advice to Regional Executive Director and Director – Regional Policy across a range of policy areas including productivity, taxation, workforce development, small business, work health and safety, consumer protection, insurance and industrial relations;
- provide a strong HIA influence in Government policy direction, by assisting HIA to lobby governments and regulators and formulate policy submissions;
- attend meetings and represent on Government committees and advisory groups as required;
- directly guide and develop policy debate within HIA’s regional member forums in NSW;
- assist the Regional Executive Director and Contracts and Compliance team in the delivery of membership services and communications;
- support the functions of the Contracts and Compliance team, including supporting Contracts and Compliance Advisers, meeting with key members and other stakeholders and delivery of presentations and training; and
- support and represent the interests of our members, which is a core value of HIA.

- have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- have a good working knowledge of workplace relations law and/ or construction law;
- strong experience in the building and construction industry is a benefit.
