The Role
The Communications Coordinator, part time (22.8 hours per week) is responsible for the coordination of communication activities across HIA’s Victorian Regional office. The role will work closely with the Regional Executive Director (RED) and Deputy Regional Executive Director (DRED), regional staff and business units (including Events, Partnership, Policy & Advocacy, Technical, Training, Apprenticeship and Membership) to plan and coordinate effective and impactful member communications.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
The role will be responsible for coordination of the planning, production and distribution of several key communication activities across HIA’s Victorian regional office. These include:
- Media releases and member alerts, and regional newsletters (Enews).
- Regional and relevant national web content.
- Regional and relevant national digital and social media content.
The Communications Coordinator will also:
- Identify content opportunities in the region across business units, HIA’s awards program, national marketing campaigns and regional events calendars.
- Identify and promote member success stories through various communications platforms.
- Provide communications support to promote HIA Victoria events.
- Provide communications support to raise member awareness and/or engagement in special projects and government grant programs (e.g., Connecting Communities to Builders Program).
- Leverage feedback from members to inform the design of impactful HIA communications.
- Ensure the promotional and publications requirements of event sponsors and HIA partners met on a timely basis in accordance with their agreements.
The ideal applicant will have the qualities of:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to create compelling content that engages and influences stakeholders.
- Productive and proactive thinker.
- Digitally savvy with experience producing a wide range of communications products and publications.
- Resourceful with excellent planning and organisation skills. A motivated ‘self-starter’ able to meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge and experience using CRM systems.
- Politically astute with an awareness and interest in residential building issues.
- Ability to create and manage productive working relationships with individuals with different backgrounds, skills and experience.
- Strong organisational awareness (products, services and policy priorities).
